What does Interpositioning mean? It is unnecessarily inserting another party between the broker-dealer and the customer.

How the exam might test Interpositioning: considered a violation of the Investment Act of 1940. Used to generate commissions and referrals. Has historically occurred between individuals and specialists at the upper levels of brokerages, hedge funds, and other institutions.
